TAXONOMIC MISTAGGING
The modern identity of Parsonsia alboflavescens hides a curious case of botanical confusion. In several late-20th-century Indian Floras, it was mistakenly classified under the name Parsonsia inodora (Lour.) M.R.Almeida & S.M.Almeida. This misnomer occurred when researchers incorrectly linked its historical records to an old specimen described by Loureiro. However, later global examinations proved that Loureiro’s plant was actually an entirely different species altogether, Gymnema inodorum. While global authorities eventually rejected Parsonsia inodora, the name remains stubbornly attached to many regional Indian databases. ... compiled from the web.
As such, any vernacular names listed exclusively for Parsonsia inodora are omitted from this compilation.
